eKOCOMFORT: Tirino

For this project, Tirino is developing a modified version of their existing product that will incorporate a direct-vent sealed-combustion hot water generator with a nominal 32 gal. (US) stainless-steel storage tank.

The unit will operate at ~85 % efficiency with input capacity of ~110,000 Btu/h, and will utilize side-wall venting. The unit has an airhandler with integrated HRV system and space-heating coil to provide space-heating output of ~65,000 Btu/h, according to Richard DiMarco. The system will utilize a GE ECM in the airhandler and provide continuous balanced ventilation at ~65 CFM, with ventilation capability of ~150 CFM available. The ventilation heat recovery system is equipped with an automatic recirculation-type defrost system.

With an optional heat exchanger unit, the system can be used with radiant floor heating (RFH). It has a footprint of ~28x34 inches and a height of ~6 ft. This unit will eventually be developed for operation with propane and oil as well as natural gas.
